Air Duct Cleaning in Houston, TX
Call (713) 949-1058Why Houston ducts load up faster than the system was built for
Most of it starts with a retrofit. Inner Loop bungalows from the 1920s through the 40s ran window units or floor furnaces. Central air came later. Ducts got squeezed into attics that were never planned for them. Undersized trunks, long flex runs, sharp turns over a hallway. Air moves slowly in those runs. Slow air drops dust instead of carrying it.
Humidity does the rest. Mold spores are present year-round here, not seasonal. Damp interior fiberglass liner holds them. Pre-1975 houses often have rigid metal duct with that liner bonded inside. Once it gets soft or shedding, brushing it makes things worse. We say so and stop.
Slab foundations mean no crawlspace. Everything is overhead. That changes access entirely: attic hatch size, decking, whether a technician can reach a plenum at all. Three-story infill townhomes stack the air handler high and hide returns in closets.
Freeway corridor soot is its own tell. Homes near 610, 45 and 288 show dark streaking at supply registers. Spring adds oak pollen film on the grille faces.
Check your own returns before calling anyone. Gray fuzz means dust. Black speckling on the ceiling around the vent usually means airflow, not dirt.
What Happens After You Call Us
Call and tell us how many AC systems you have and what you're seeing at the vents. We give you a two hour arrival window and a text when the tech is on the way, usually same day.
The tech walks the attic trunk lines and pulls a return cover to show you what's in there, then hands you a firm quote. The price depends on how many systems and returns you have.
We hook the vacuum to the plenum, brush each branch, run the system to check airflow, and replace every register. You pay the quoted number, and we tell you the filter size you need.

In addition to Houston, we cover Bellaire, Pearland, Sugar Land, Spring, Humble, Pasadena.

Frequently Asked Questions
My bungalow was converted to central air decades ago and the vents never seem balanced — is duct cleaning going to help?
Cleaning helps with what's in the duct, not with how the duct was laid out. A lot of Inner Loop houses from the 1920s–40s went from window units or a floor furnace to central air long after they were built, and the ductwork got threaded through the attic wherever there was room. That often means undersized trunks, long flex runs with sags, and rooms at the end of the line that barely move air. We'll clean it and tell you honestly what we saw, including whether a branch is crushed, disconnected, or too small for the room it's feeding. If the imbalance is a sizing or routing problem, cleaning won't fix it and we'll say so instead of selling you a second visit.
Our pre-1975 house has metal ducts with fiberglass lining inside. Can those be cleaned?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Rigid metal with an internal fiberglass liner is common in Houston houses built before the mid-70s, and the condition of that liner decides everything. If it's intact and firmly bonded, it can be cleaned with soft brushes and contact vacuuming (no aggressive spinning tools, which tear liner and put fibers into the airstream). If the liner is already shedding, delaminating, or damp and discolored from years of humidity, cleaning just releases more of it, and the honest answer is replacement or encapsulation of that section. We check the liner before we commit to a method, not after.
How fast can someone actually get out to me?
Houston traffic sets the schedule more than anything else. We route by area so a crew isn't crossing the whole metro mid-afternoon, and most requests get a slot within a few days. Same-day does happen, usually for morning calls on a day where a job finished early or a cancellation opened up near you. If you're calling at 4 p.m. from inside the Loop, next morning is the realistic answer. For a hard deadline (a move-in, a listing photo day, a tenant turnover in a townhome) tell us up front and we'll say yes or no instead of leaving you waiting.
What usually turns out to be wrong in Houston systems?
Mold growth comes up constantly. Year-round spores plus a humid attic plus a cold supply plenum means moisture settles where it shouldn't, usually at the plenum, the first few feet of supply, and around a return that's drawing unconditioned attic air. Fine black soot film is heaviest in houses near the freeway corridors; it shows up on the register faces and in the return drop. And that yellow oak pollen layer every spring coats grilles and loads the filter faster than people expect. On slab houses there are no crawlspace runs to blame, so almost everything we find is in the attic, where the heat and humidity are worst.
